Harmony Day Family Picnic
Everyone belongs
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Throughout Week 1 (28 April to 2 May) Excelsior Primary School will be celebrating Harmony Week. The theme this year is ‘Everyone Belongs’. Harmony week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core values. To celebrate, we will be holding a Harmony Day Picnic on Thursday 1 May. Parents and families are invited to be part of a whole school picnic lunch. Gates will open from 12:45pm (entry through front, back and oval gate) and you can collect your child from their classroom from 1pm. A sign in sheet will be near the door of each classroom for you to sign before collecting your child. We envisage families setting up their picnic rugs and chairs and sharing lunch together with their children. You may choose to sit with other families or even prepare lunch with others to share. Please note that some students in our school have food allergies, so food is to only be shared if the child’s parent is present. Pre-Primary students must stay in the Pre-Primary area and Kindergarten students will remain in the Kindy Area. Older siblings can join their families in these areas. If students do not have family members attending the picnic, they will need their packed lunch as normal. After eating, feel free to meet and chat with friends and other families before students return to class at 1:40pm. You are then welcome to join your child/ren in their classroom to help with a Harmony Day activity until the end of the school day at 2:50pm. Students may choose to wear their cultural dress or orange for this day. We can’t wait to share this event with our families and look forward to seeing you on Thursday 1 May.
