School Chaplaincy

Excelsior Primary School has a School Chaplain appointed to the school for two days a week. The role of the Chaplain at the school is to speak individually, or with a small group of children who self-refer, or have been referred by parents or their teacher, to the service because of something they want to talk about whether it be issues around friendship or conflict with other students.

Small social skills groups with students who need to practice their socialisation skills or to boost their own self-esteem is also offered by the Chaplain. This might include support and guidance about values, ethics and relationships, and helping students engage with the broader community.

The Chaplain is also available to meet with parents to discuss any concerns they may have about their children.

Meeting with the Chaplain is on a voluntary basis for all parents and students. The role of the Chaplain supports the work of our wonderful staff and School Psychologist.
