Welcome to Excelsior Primary

Excelsior Primary School is an Independent Public School located in the suburb of Canning Vale with an enrolment of 480 students in 20 classes from Kindergarten to Year 6. Excelsior is part of the South Metropolitan Education Region and is a high achieving school catering for the needs and aspirations of students and families in the Canning Vale community. Our student population includes families from a variety of nationalities and cultures which contributes to a rich and culturally diverse school environment.

The school opened in 2005 and is a welcoming school in a unique setting with plenty of grass and open space, along with several playgrounds, basketball/tennis courts, a large oval, specialist teaching classrooms, library, enclosed undercover area and five open plan teaching blocks with classrooms and central activity areas.

We are fully committed to a continual process of curriculum improvement through the implementation of the Australia Curriculum. Our merit selected teachers have made considerable progress in understanding and applying the Learning Area strategies and content, General Capabilities and Cross Curriculum Priorities from the Australian Curriculum into the teaching and learning programs for all students.

Specialist Teaching Areas

Excelsior provides students with the opportunity to excel in the specialist teaching areas of Music, Art, Physical Education and Italian. The school employs an EAL/D teacher (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) to assist new Australian students to develop competent English skills.

Special Programs

Excelsior has Asthma Friendly accreditation, is a Crunch & Sip school and has a practical focus on Sustainability with numerous programs including Waste Wise accreditation (reduce, reuse recycle), solar power, water recycling (tanks) and the kitchen garden.

Technology

Our learning environment incorporates the use of state-of-the-art technology and includes Interactive SmartBoards in all classrooms. Along with class sets of notebook computers and iPads, this supports our continued vision for strong ICT integration and development for all students.
